In somatic psychotherapy, energetic language translates the deep sensations of the body and mind into sensory metaphors. These often spontaneous expressions reveal blockages, tensions, or absences in our energetic structure. The causes can be multifactorial and/or linked to a traumatic event. This is what we explore in somatic psychotherapy.
Here are some examples:
⚡ "It’s like I’m beside myself," someone experiencing dissociation might say, feeling their mind floating outside their body.
⚡ "It’s like I’m wearing armor," another might express, sensing a defensive rigidity that cuts them off from the world.
⚡ "It’s like I have an emptiness in my stomach," could reflect a deep emotional void, a sense of lack.
⚡ "It’s like I’m not really here," someone might murmur, marked by an absence from themselves and others.
⚡ "It’s like my energy is rising upwards, and I can’t feel my legs," could evoke fragile grounding and difficulty in taking up space.
These examples are only interpretative hypotheses and should not be seen as absolute rules.
By decoding these messages in collaboration with the person experiencing them, somatic psychotherapy helps reintegrate sensations, release blockages, and restore balance between body and mind.
